Quiet support for those navigating change
If you’re navigating change in your work, identity, or your life in general, I offer grounded, thoughtful support. No scripts, no jargon. Just space to speak clearly, ask real questions, and begin to move forward.
Some reflections from people I’ve worked with are collected here.
One-to-One Support
This is for people who are questioning where they are and what comes next.
You might be:
- Leaving or stepping into a new role
- Feeling overwhelmed or close to burnout
- Trying to hold integrity in a difficult system
- Seeking a more truthful way of living
These conversations are personal, not packaged. We work with what’s real for you. Some people come once. Others come regularly over time. Together, we look not just at options. We explore meaning. We consider what feels aligned. We determine what no longer fits. We focus on what still matters.
Public Speaking
My talks are shaped around the needs of your group. This could be young people preparing for their next step. It might be adults involved in community learning. It could also be older residents seeking connection, reflection, and cultural enrichment. I draw on many years of experience in education, communication, and reflective practice. I create sessions that are accessible, grounded, and genuinely meaningful.
My approach is conversational. I invite reflection and discussion rather than treating people as passive recipients of information. Each talk is shaped to the people in the room so that it meets them where they are.
I have delivered sessions in schools on topics such as Heraclitus and the Art of Choosing a University Programme, How the Stoics Can Help Us Study, and How Aristotle Teaches Us to Stay Steady and Balanced. For community groups, I’ve offered programmes including Dealing with Difference When Building Community and Handling Conflict to Support Creativity and Trust.
In care homes and residential centres, including communities of retired religious, I lead calming, reflective cultural sessions such as Ireland, Memory and the Meaning of Place, A Quiet Hour of Poetry and Story, and Wisdom for the Later Stages of Life.
Communications, Tone, and Strategy Facilitation
For people and organisations that want to speak and work with clarity, not performance. I offer help with tone of voice and reflective facilitation for teams. Especially useful for purpose-driven groups who want to change without losing their values.
Hedge School in the West of Ireland
I work in the spirit of the old Irish hedge schools by hosting small, dialogue based classes for quiet thought and honest conversation. Nothing polished. Just a chance to step aside and see more clearly.*
Details are published on the Events page. More about hedge schools here.
What I’ve said no to
I say no to coaching frameworks.
No to life hacks.
No to five step plans.
No to broicism, hyper masculinity, and misogyny.
I do not help people optimise their brand, crush their goals, or build their platform.
What I offer is personal, considered, and rooted in real attention rather than quick fixes or borrowed language.
Fees
I don’t charge fixed rates across the board. My fees are set with care, and based on context. If you are in poverty, my services are free.
For organisations and companies, my fee is guided by turnover or available budget.
For individuals, I charge according to personal circumstances, including income, life stage, and what feels fair.
This includes one-to-one support, career discernment, and facilitated sessions.
I try to make this work sustainable, for both of us. If you’re unsure what’s appropriate, we can talk.
*A note on place
The hedge school takes place in and around my small off-grid cottage. I’ve been restoring it slowly over several years. It reflects how I want to live: simply, slowly, and close to the ground. The nearest train station is Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo, a twenty minute drive away.
There’s no electricity. Light comes from candles and oil lamps. There’s an outdoor composting toilet. The terrain is rugged and uneven. It’s a quiet home, where I practice as best I can the ancient art of hospitality.
You can watch a short film on the renovation of the house here.
