Funeral Services

A quiet, steady hand when words are hard to find.

If you’ve found your way to this page, there’s a good chance you’re facing death. It could be your own, or that of someone you love. First, I want to say: this can be a tender, complicated time. Whatever you’re feeling, you’re not alone.

Over the years, I’ve helped shape many funerals for people from all walks of life, in all kinds of circumstances. Every loss is different. Every life is unique. And each ceremony should reflect that.

What I offer is quiet, steady support. I can help you shape a service that feels true, not scripted or formal, but thoughtful, grounded and dignified That might mean helping to write something. It might mean leading the ceremony. It might simply mean sitting with you, listening, and helping you find your own words.

I draw on resources from many traditions, ancient and modern, as well as literature, poetry, and the natural world. Sometimes it’s a blessing from another culture. Sometimes it’s a line from a poem, or a silence held well. We work together to find what feels right, something that honours the person, the moment, and those gathered.

My work is informed by Stoic philosophy, a tradition that meets both life and death with clarity, humility, and care. What I offer isn’t religious in the traditional sense. There are no set prayers or creeds. But it can be spiritual in its intention. It can honour the sacred nature of life and loss, whatever form that sacredness takes for you.

I’ve worked with people of faith and no faith, with those who describe themselves as spiritual but not religious, and with those still working out what they believe. There is no single right way to say goodbye. My role is simply to hold space so something real can take shape.

There is no greater honour than to be asked to help carry a life to its resting place. These moments ask for stillness, presence, and care. I do my best to meet them with the reverence they deserve.

I’m based on the Mayo/Galway/Roscommon border and happy to travel. I’m also glad to meet beforehand, even if plans are not yet clear. Sometimes a quiet conversation is the best place to begin.

If this sounds like the kind of support you need, you’re welcome to get in touch.
